Schwartz Edelstein Law Group has served as general counsel to all forms of municipal bodies, large and small, urban and suburban. We have served as general counsel to municipal governing bodies, as well as independent authorities. In the role as general counsel, Schwartz Edelstein regularly advises the public entities on all of their legal issues, including but not limited to the requirements of the Open Public Meetings Act (“OPMA” or the “Sunshine Law”), the Open Public Records Act (“OPRA”), Roberts Rules of Procedure and the overall statutory authority of the bodies.
Among some of the services provided, we attend public meetings, consult daily with elected and administrative officials, review and prepare contracts, resolutions, and ordinances, negotiate various types of agreements on behalf of the public entity, attend to day-to-day employer/employee related matters, assist the public entity with any and all issues with New Jersey and Federal Regulatory Agencies, investigate, represent and oversee claims made against the public entities, officials and employees, as well as monitor matters assigned to outside counsel. Schwartz Edelstein Law Group has provided legal advice relating to the real estate revaluation process and the County and State tax appeals. We also assist in all aspects of the election process, including challenges to Nominating Petitions, the Vote By Mail Process, Recounts and Election challenges as well as the assistance in the oversight of the Recall of an Elected Official.
