Joshua I. Savitz, Esq.


Josh Savitz concentrates his practice in representing management in all aspects of labor and employment law for both private and public sector clients, including numerous boards of education. He has also successfully litigated commercial disputes throughout his career.

Collaborative Style Yields Positive Results

Josh has extensive experience in counseling his clients and protecting their rights in the area of labor and employment law. Using a collaborative style and strong listening skills, Josh represents employers in labor arbitrations, defending unfair labor practice charges and negotiating collective bargaining agreements. Josh has litigated matters in State and Federal court and with various administrative agencies, including the Pubic Employment Relations Commission (“PERC”), the National Labor Relations Board (“NLRB”), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”), the N.J. Civil Service Commission, the State Board of Mediation, the N.J. Department of Education, and the Office of Administrative Law (“OAL”).

Well-rounded Experience

During his career, Josh has defended claims of retaliation, discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract, fraud, and Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) violations. He has also counseled employers on a wide-range of issues including severance agreements, employee handbooks, employment agreements, Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), employee discipline, reductions in force, furloughs, tenure, seniority, and workplace investigations. Furthermore, he has represented individuals, corporations and governmental entities in Commercial Litigation in State and Federal Court.

Josh is a 1993 graduate of Brandeis University and a 1997 graduate of Rutgers University School of Law – Newark. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey. After law school he clerked for the Honorable Arthur N. D D’Italia, A.J.S.C., then the Assignment Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Hudson Vicinage. Thereafter he served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey, primarily representing the New Jersey Bureau of Securities and the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. He was recognized as a New Jersey “Rising Star” in 2009 and 2010.
